冬天起床是一天最痛苦的时候，迷糊之中经常有希奇古怪的念头冒出来，今天的念头是：原来美貌之于女人，类似一颗大钻石之于穷光蛋。在平安富庶的社会环境里，从天而降的 一颗大钻石能给穷人带来好处，让他发达过上好日子，出人头地；在动荡贫穷的乱世就惨了，多半只能带来被强人觊觎，横尸后巷的下场，倒不如他的穷邻居朋友能保住平安命运。美女在文明和有秩序的环境里肯定比条件类似但相貌普通的常人好处多多，左右逢源，但是在恶劣的环境里（高度父权社会，女性被强烈压迫），命运多半会比平常女人更糟糕。我比较同意道家的看法，在森林被大砍特砍时，长得又高又直的树先被割倒，而生得七歪八扭的破树更容易幸存。

自我批评一下哈，我没把话说明白。穷人得大钻石，不能立刻兑现成钱，怎么买枪？再说光有枪也没用，尤其是从来没用过枪的不习惯暴力的人。如果不用钻石打比方，你可以想象一幅阁楼里的凡高也可以－－不能吃不能穿不能立刻兑成现金而且有大把流氓觊觎。
我的比方是：穷人在乱世对－－美女在强权男性社会，不是美女在乱世。你们眼睛就盯着那几个名人，陈圆圆，被各色各样的杀人如麻的土匪们轮流强奸，很开心吗？有好东西放在那里自然会吸引各色的流氓坏蛋流口水, 如果再处于vulnerable的地位就比没好东西更危险。但是如果不处于vulnerable 地位就是好事，例如女权高涨法制社会等于给拿钻石的穷人配了枪。
美女在父权专制的社会里遇到要占有她的人，力气和权力都比她强多了，还不是予取予求，精明比不精明稍微强一点，聊胜于无而已，要真能怎么样反抗也还是不能。

The way I look at it is: it's just like money, you can tell people a thousand times that too much money is evil and will change people for the worse. But money is a good thing, a terrific thing if you take control not being controlled. Money might not eternally make you content, but will buy "temporary" happiness; wihout money is definitely going to guarantee inconvenience and misery, even to a saintly noble soul. Same thing applies to beauty, it's better to have than have not. But why are we worrying about this now?

I refuse to side with the general opinion that envy those "kept women." (Ironic, isn't it, that women who are not as beautiful tend to look at the beautiful and used women with envy?)
It's like Sai4 Weng1 Shi1 Ma3. A nicer horse is more likely to be captured and put in harness. A healthy boy is more likely to be drafted to fight in the war.

See, that's exactly where you are thinking like a woman. The bad guys might just gang rape both if they could. You are making the classic mistake that a rapist rapes because the victim iss desirable and has aroused him at that moment (and if she were plain he wouldn't want to), while in fact, it has more do to with control and ...she just happens to be there when he wants to rape.
Sexual harrassment is even more about power and control than about beauty of the subject than rape, for it is much longer process that usually lasts over a period of time.

Oh come on! Are you kidding? Do you really believe that harrassers and rapists do not favor more beautiful objects? Getting aroused have nothing to do with the most primitive sense of what's desirable in the opposite sex?
Popular psychobabble infected with wishful-thinking shallow feminism likes to claim that rape of women and sexual harrassment is ALL about power and NONE about primitive human urges. I think it's baloney. Given the choice, a bad guy (I am not talking about all men!) would prefer the younger, sexier, more desirable object that appeals more to his hard-wired human instincts.
