When long-term memory is retrieved, it is susceptible to reconsolidation and revision, right?
So, when it is re-stored back to long-term memory "boxes", it is probably not the same as it was before, right?
So, the best opportunity to manipulate/change/tinker with long-term memory is during the recall process, right?

I think we have seen plenty of examples of that. Confabulatory hypermnesia is sometimes not cold-blooded, intentional lies, but half lies and half willful blindness, cognitive dissonance, and self-deception.
