I strongly encourage George Clooney to keep himself high, keep his standards low and keep his options open  We single girls out there need that.

A Place in the Sun,
A Place in the Sun Match Point 的基本element 都是美国悲剧里来的,算loosely based on ....

To Kill a Mocking Bird不是Nell Harper Lee写的而是Capote捉刀的作品.

Taming 'Tiger' on stage
Weinsteins acquire rights to Wang's 'Crane' series

By IAN MOHR

Bob and Harvey WeinsteinHarvey Weinstein are planning to bring a legitlegit version of martial arts pic "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon""Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" to the stage, and are also developing the five books that encompass "Tiger" as a film franchise of three prequels and a sequel.

The sibs have acquired worldwide rights to develop and produce a stage adaptation of Chinese author Wang Du Lu's "Crane -- Iron Pentalogy," a series of tomes that includes "Tiger" as its fourth installment.

"Tiger" would serve as the first planned legit production to be culled from the book series. Harvey Weinstein said that he envisions the project as a "combination spectacle and musical with a cohesive (storyline)."

He added that the stage version would be akin to "Cirque du Soleil with a pronounced narrative, featuring the greatest martial artists."

The original "Crane -- Iron" books comprise five martial arts novels that follow the adventures of three generations of related protagonists during the Qing dynasty. Titles include "Crane Frightens KunLun," "Precious Sword," "Golden Hairpin," "Sword Spirit, Pearl Light," "Tiger" and "Iron Knight, Silver Vase."

As for the films, the projects would be Chinese language, and Weinstein said he would like to approach original "Tiger" helmer Ang Lee and producer Bill Kong about coming on board. "Tiger" would not be remade as part of the series, and the Weinsteins have not chosen which book would serve as the basis for the first project.

Yeah, good luck with the magnificent Weinstein brothers. Don't hold your breath for seeing the final product. Just ask Stephen Chow how much he loved dealing with the black hole that was Miramax (when it was under Weinsteins' management).

thumbsucker

Post by DeBeers » 2006-03-13 12:11

But you are just my orthodontist.

:party003:

AFI in Silver Spring is fantastic. The only inconvenience is parking. They have all kinds of good stuff played all the time. Highly recommended. I saw The Red Circle there a few years ago. Gosh I miss Maryland.

The Landmark theater in Bethesda plays "semi-independent" movies. It has a very small store front by the French restaurant. The theater is entirely underground. Their tickets are expensive and matinee ($7 or $7.50) only applies to the first show of the day. So if you go after work you have to pay 9 bucks. I just wait for DVD to come out at local library most of the time.
