从朋友家淘来一本Kinsella的购物狂告白，粉红色的包装，千篇一律的情节，唯一独特的卖点是女主角的购物狂，自欺欺人的借口，幽默地描述出来。

我真的受不了paperback romance的套路。我并不是要抬高自己，踩低喜欢此类小说的广大群众，我也不是爱看阳春白雪的那一类。可是不知道为什么，我讨厌paperback romance几乎成了一种生理反应。记得刚来美国时邻居给我几本旧书，我如饥似渴地读了，其中一本是典型的paperback romance，讲一个孤女如何钓到有钱英俊的丈夫的，第一次读这个genre，就觉得相当厌恶。

可是我并不讨厌一般的言情小说和一定程度的女性幻想，包括被人搭救(只要不是被贵人搭救)，包括苦尽甘来，包括老妻少夫，包括郭靖黄蓉式的故事。我仍然喜欢Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice。只是有些buttons，一碰就让我跳起来。And I watch Sex and the City off and on.

ha, this is the reason why I never touched another romance since my first and last Daniel Steel book.
She is funny, there is a ghost in the story, a very pretty young woman, and at the end of the story, we learned that this ghost has lived to ripe olden age of 80 something. I had to laugh at her having to let the ghost be a pretty woman in 30s, but not grandma nice in 80s.

那种书也是有它自己的读者的，看看书能满足幻想也是好的，不然满街的desperate housewives社会不安定老子还要不要过日子呢

是啊是啊，我就是说广大读者群众喜闻乐见的东西，我怎么就读了浑身发痒，恨不得象猪一样在泥潭里打几个滚呢？我有一个非常理智非常分析的朋友，她比我冷静客观得多，有时近似冷血，可是她读paperback romance，我却看不下去。

我知道我为什么讨厌好多套路书，小时候看书太快暑假太长，捡到什么看什么，糊里糊涂读的太多读伤了，现在一看就恶心。

我倒是不那么反感套路，但受不了paperback粗糙的文字。
Cosmo 每期都拣段某纸皮罗曼小说的“精彩”片段。每篇都是那几个指定的名词，几个形容词，地震火花后了事， 千篇一律。 我十五时看这东西是还真哇塞了番，但相信不到为啥飞机上那些四五十岁的大妈们怎么看得那么入迷。

I'm not against most cliches. I actually like a lot of cliches. It's just a small number of certain cliches drive me up the wall. Come to think of it, usually it's the specific paperback-romance type of cliches about men (rich, handsome, powerful, dependable, indulging [toward the delicate and helpless heroine], condescending) that make me want to put my head between my knees and scream.

我最烦的小说是台湾新言情， 比如席娟某些用自以为很幽默的口气写的小说， 简直看了就想吐。。。天知道这些人为什么还要浪费生命一本接一本的写， 简直是垃圾中的垃圾。

I must confess I did not enjoy the arm-chopping part of Sophie in Kill Bill.

而且姿势很明显的有问题么！日本刀老子虽然没有亲自动手耍过，起码姿三四郎新有为门的电视剧还是看过的么。

即使姿三四郎没看过吟公主很多人还是记忆犹新的么

我猜她们写的时候一定感到很爽，不用说写完有钱拿就更爽了。晋江上不是有很多人无偿的拼命制造灰姑娘垃圾小说，闭门造车那叫一个起劲，皇帝都是用金斧头砍柴的。 你说她们能图个什么？不就是过个干瘾么？

He gave a example that he was in printer room in the office and this girl came in, and next thing he knew was that he was on the printer having sex with the office girl.
