恶人谷

Read somewhere about the commentary track on the Chinese version of Kung Fu (2004, Stephen Chow) DVD. Don't even know if it's in Cantonese. I'm not particularly keen on listening to that commentary, but if Chow has done an English commentary track I'd pay good money to listen to it. Supposedly he speaks "perfect English".

I'm not a visual person, and often beautiful people don't exert the same effect on me as they do on others. But I'm often quite sensitive to voices.

Currently a TV network is showing Attack of the Clones. Hayden Christiansen's voice just makes me cringe. Such whiny, awful, yucky voice delivering such silly, awkward, stiff dialogue. It's quite unbearable. I think I'm gonna be sick...

标准的广东-牛津音。英文声调本身是粉平的， 但参了广东调，显得逛里逛当的， 不好听。

现在这些年轻演员都没受过戏台训练，很多声音都是听不的， 模仿个英文音的更惨 (Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Renee Zellweger). 不过前段我看了个法国片， Johnny Depp在里面演个说法文的小角色。 英文调是有的，但仍然粉酷， 让我着实呜啊了阵。 你们记得Jodie Foster在A very long engagement里面说得法文吗？ 哇塞，那声音真好听。

这种obsession我也有，CCTV9有个播音员一开始讲话，我就得避到其它房间去，要不然戴上耳机听音乐。

Standard English accent is nice but too ... "standard" for me. I have a growing affection for Scottish accent lately, which has much to do with my re-reading "Kidnapped" and "Catriona". RLS used a lot of "Scot-talk" in the books. Another of my Scot-phile fetish...

Scot-phile, that's the first I ever heard of.

Also, since I once had a huge voice-crush on David Thewlis, I also like the accent from northwest England (Liverpool, Manchester, etc.)

Hayden Christiansen还是挺中看的。不过，他在新星战电影里的发型极差，令我有不良的预感，这种软和稀正是male-pattern baldness的征兆。莫非天妒美男？再想想，其实也没什么。康纳利就是秃头，照样好些人看他透着性感。

那Jun是不是也喜欢guy ritchie那种east london口音呢？
The tough Brits in movies all have this accent, sort of working-class-take-no-bs kind of guys. It's like the British version of Brooklyn accent, you know, the type spoken by Tony Sopranos and Robert De Niro.

Oddly enough I'm not into Hackney accent. Perhaps no actor I like spoke it...

Cockney accent, I suppose?
Bill Bryson has an interesting point. He says that the working-class accent tends to miss consonants, while the upper-class accent keeps only consonants.
Why?

Yeah, Cockney. Geez, how did I put down "hackney"?!
