Organic

http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/qa-ind7f.html
The term "natural" has not been defined in FDA's law (the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act) or in FDA's regulations.

However, USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service, who oversees the National Organic Program, published the final rule on national organic standards on December 27, 2000. Implementation of the program began in April 2001. A press release on these standards can be found at: http://www.usda.gov/news/releases/2000/12/0425.htm
http://www.usda.gov/news/releases/2000/12/0425.htm
Essentially, the new organic standard offers a national definition for the term "organic." It details the methods, practices and substances that can be used in producing and handling organic crops and livestock, as well as processed products. It establishes clear organic labeling criteria, and specifically prohibits the use of genetic engineering methods, ionizing radiation, and sewage sludge for fertilization.

我记得我读过一篇讲鸡蛋标签的文章,教育消费者分辨这些标签的含义;

I heard Walmart is going organic, well, at least it plans to. Since it has such huge purchasing power, it can force farmers to go organic, and do it at a competitive price. I dunno, it sounds like a good idea, but when it involves Walmart, you never know. :headscratch:

Organic chicken is so much better! Don't you think they have smaller breasts than regular ones? I take it as a good thing.

It is defintely a good thing for me -- I mean, I prefer dark meat. :party002:

Yeah, these days the regular chicken look like small turkeys. :-D
I like dark meat much more myself. The cooking shows always say that the deboned chicken thigh is the best value in the meat department.

Organic tomatoes make such a huge difference! I am tired of the tasteless winter tomatoes that are pink inside. :f28:

What's your "wildly inappropriate comment"? :whistling:
Knowing, you sure know how to eat your organic chicken! :-D I usually salt and pepper and brush it with butter, stuff a lemon inside, and roast it @425F for 50 minutes. It's comfort food when the chicken is good.
I then cut off the meat and make chicken soup with the rack, just like you. I was so smug to find an economical way to fully utilize the chicken, guess I am not the only one. :-D
