In no particular order: Volver, L'Enfant, Little Miss Sunshine, Borat.

Honorable mention: Children of Men. The Proposition. A Lion in the House (documentary).

DEADWOOD! (Even though it's not a movie, it's better than all the movies I saw in the year put together.)

Supposed to be good but I've not yet watched but plan to:

Infamous, Half Nelson, Akeelah and the Bee, Thank You for Smoking.

Plan for 2007: Watch The Wire on DVD.

I just can't stand the fart jokes in Borat.

i just realized that I haven't set foot into a movie theater at all in 2006.... I seriously need to get myself a life.

Sigh and add them to my Netflix queue. Call it an empty life......
May try something stimulating and refreshing first, like Volver and DEADWOOD.

Thank you for smoking 蛮好看的. It's all about moral relativism even moral flexibility. Funny.

推一个the lives of others,今年赞誉一片,跟volver打最佳外语片对台的强有力竞争。

A friend of mine saw it and liked it a lot. She's Romanian and found it particularly interesting. Perhaps we Chinese would also appreciate it more than average American audience. Look forward to seeing it, although I'm a bit weary of heroism nowadays.

Surprised to notice that you've left Rome out

Nah. Rome is just another excellent TV series, but Deadwood is ... peerless.

you're tempting me to get netflix. my life has consisted of work during work hours, reading for work during off hours, and procrastination in anticipation of more work. i need the resemblance of a life - oh wait, that's way too ambitious.

I saw The Painted Veil with a couple of friends last night. Before the show, we were all VERY impressed with the trailer of Indigenes (I REFUSE to call it by the English distribution title, Roads to Glory--not out of pomposity but because I believe "The Natives" is so much more meaningful). I'm not generally a fan of French cinema but I really want to see this one.
