好象是overdose?
那个公寓的主人是Mary-Kate Olsen.

his death is now looking more like an accidental overdose by an insomniac trying to self-medicate himself into sleep.
here'sthe official timeline:
- Police believe Ledger probably died between 1pm and 2:45pm on Tuesday.
- At 1pm the housekeeper went into his bedroom to change a light bulb and heard him snoring.
- At 2:45pm a massage therapist, Diana Wolozin, showed up for Ledger's appointment.
- After waiting and getting no response from his cell phone, she entered his room at 3pm.
- Wolozin initially assumed Ledger was asleep and set up her massage table, only realizing he was unconscious when she tried to wake him up.
- But before calling 911, she decided to seek advice from former child star Mary-Kate Olsen, whose number was programmed into Ledger's cell phone.
- Olsen said she’d send her bodyguard to assess and the call ended.
- But Wolozin soon discovered Ledger’s body was stone cold.
- So she called Olsen again (because, you know, who better to deal with a crisis?) to say she would call 911
- After that chat, the paramedics were finally summoned at 3:26pm.

OMG! Two painkillers, three anti-anxiety, one sleeping pill. Who knows that's a formula for death. :f19:

From nytimes:
“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine,” Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the chief medical examiner, Dr. Charles S. Hirsch, said in a brief statement on Wednesday morning. “We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”
The six drugs found in Mr. Ledger’s system included two painkillers: Oxycodone, the active ingredient in the prescription drug OxyContin, and hydrocodone, which is often combined with acetaminophen, as in the prescription drug Vicodin.
Also in Mr. Ledger’s system were three anti-anxiety medications, known as benzodiazepines, that are used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain: diazepam, sold under the commercial name Valium, which is used relieve anxiety, muscle spasms and seizures and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal; alprazolam, commonly known under the brand name Xanax;
and Temazepam, brand name Restoril, which is most commonly prescribed as a sleep aid than as an anti-anxiety medication.
One non-prescription drug was found in Mr. Ledger’s system: doxylamine, which is found in common nighttime sleep aids. It is an antihistamine that causes drowsiness as a side effect and is used in the short-term treatment of insomnia. (It is also used, in combination with decongestants, to relieve cough and cold symptoms.)

That sucks. Was he taking too high doses of them?

I dunno. The report seems to suggest that what killed him isn't the quantity of medications, it is the particular combination of different pills.

wow. if you look at what some of the folks at the suicide method newsgroup have been trying to do, you would've thought that killing yourself by medication is next to impossible short of access to really potent toxins.

and sure enough they're all abuzz over this...
