某人公司捐款不match. 某人正在争取让公司能够match. HR希望能有一个加拿大捐款match的公司名单好跟公司争取。有谁有这方面的信息么？现在只知道Petro Canada是match的．

I called the Canadian Red Cross head office just now. They don’t have a list of companies that has an on-going matching gift program. But here is the good news. She did tell me that the Canadian government would match the donations for both China earthquake and the Burma cyclone. So far the total of the fund raised for China Earthquake is $1 million.

Wow, unbelievable. Thanks so much for the info, vivi. How does this work then? Canadian government will do the match directly through Canadian red Cross and we don't need to do extra things right? We are thinking about donating more through other charities. If this is the case, we would better continue to donate to Red Cross then.

Just called hubby, he already knew that the government matches and he is still trying for the company's match. The more match, the better.

This is really frustrating. Some people insist that we shouldn't donate to Canadian Red Cross because they are 'tricky' and because '...The federal government will match private donations made to aid groups working on disaster relief in China,...' And others say something like ' 我觉得作为中国人应该捐的，这是一份情结，至于捐多少和捐给哪个机构已经不重要了。...'

This is driving me nuts. I agree that 捐多少 is not important, but I thought the other part was simply a matter of math. $1 million becomes $2 millions, why not?!

This is driving me nuts.

我看到的不给加拿大red cross捐钱的原因是传说他们对单项项目有个上限，超出的部分会被挪到其它的国际救援项目上，不过后来证明对China earthquake项目不会这样。

不过，那怕是为了让自己好受，也最好是往好里想。这世上没有百分之百的利他主义，至少这些人都在帮助中国灾区的群众。

哪怕是灾后重建帮人家付了一块砖的钱也make a sense，我是这么乐观主义的觉得的。

火星狗, I absolutely agree with everything you say, and I am not judging anyone. All I am saying is Canada doesn't have many companies that have the matching program. We might as well take an advantage while we can.
