[新闻] Anthrax 案件宣告破获

有人听说了这件案子的事了么？FBI 今天公开了他们指控 Bruce Ivins 的证据，说他们肯定是他独自一人干的云云。

反正我这个阴谋论者是不信的。Ivins 本来就是军队里的科学家，伪造点儿什么证据还不容易？而且全是circumstantial evidence，一点也没有直接证据，什么出事前几天Ivins 一个人加班云云。军方和FBI 的话能信么？他们的track record 也太寒了。

最讽刺的是，前几天我一听说 Ivins 自杀就一拍大腿，想起了Law and Order: Criminal Intent 里面的一集，本来就是根据当时anthrax 的案件编出来的（"Ripped from the Headlines"），那一集里面就讲警方把注意力集中在一个科学家身上，他也是自杀了！结果发现他只是替死鬼，被人栽赃了以后又干掉灭口。

这位同学自杀前已经快崩溃了，抓着自己的治疗师威胁。他的治疗师怎么能testify against 自己的病人呢？不过话又说回来，军方什么事都干的出来，很可能逼治疗师说了什么。

The therapist herself was in and out of rehab for drinking and other abuses. Gosh, all the evidences are very circumstancial. I do not know what this country is becoming now (or should I said morphing into)

The government is powerful and everywhere. To fabricate this type of evidence is "a small plate of vegetables."

关键是动机涅？他一个专家，为啥拼着身家性命害陌生人？他是天主教徒，为啥会跟极端穆斯林搅在一起？
而且政府明知道证据不足，为啥非要说是他干的涅？就为了把这个案子close掉？
不明白阿不明白。

First of all, he was an army researcher. Their mechanism for appropriating funding is not the same as academia. He was not at risk of losing his job or tenure without funding.

Second, how many other researchers have poisoned random strangers for funding?

the guy was in the army. I am not surprised if anyone in the army does anything crazy. He sounded typical crazy scientist turned evil. All the really evil guys in scifi movies were scientists!
