I was at this conference in Colorado. There was only one student from Texas because he took the earliest flight out on Friday and escaped the hurricane. All other students and professors were trapped in Houston and missed the conference.

He had to do all his laundry in hotel before heading home as there was no power in Houston for two whole days...

oh, how sad. did you be nice and go to his room and help out with the laundry?

Btw, I really hate these words: all-american, down-to-earth, etc. What do they mean anyway and why do I care if you can fly or not?

I think it is common at ski resorts too, including those in California. Not sure about non-ski season though.
