I identify with Obama ...

... in his taste of fictional television series.
It was reported by NYT that he watches the TV series "Mad Men". Previously he said "The Wire" was his favorite series.
He has good taste, like mine (I say shamelessly), although I'm still waiting for him to praise "Deadwood."
I scratch my head over the question: Why is a person who likes "Mad Men", "The Wire", and Faulkner in politics? Shouldn't he be teaching at UIC instead?

I am afraid you would be disappointed. Obama does/(speaks in public) everything that is "in". "Deadwood" is/was/has been not "in".

I don't think so. Both Man Men and The Wire are incredibly elitist. Nobody who wants to pander to the public would bother with these TV series. The Wire is never "in" with anybody except a few die-hard elitists. Yes, he is an elitist! Who are we kidding?

You are right! I am convinced. He hasn't even mentioned my favorite "The Office"!

The wire is very elitist.
I don't consider my taste "good", but I have to admit I am, by any definition, an elitist. Among elitists I feel safe and reassured. And I like <The Wire>. So <The Wire> is probably elitist.
BTW he did teach law in UIC part time for the longest time.

I consider my taste, at least in movies and TV, be to better than most people. I guess that makes me an elitist.

I reckon if I have to choose a tag for myself, "an outsider" suits me best.

UIC 还是 UC?我也不知道。就是因为今天有UIC的一个教授跟我拼命推荐Obama,所以我以为他们是同一学校的呢。
