OK, that's not what the guy is actually saying, but still. It's nice to see such brutal honesty from an Ivy League Man. I'm feeling pretty proud NOT to be an Ivy League Woman.

人家明明说的是藤校精英教育的缺陷，教育出一小撮思维定势一样的人，此一小撮太过确认自己的smart无法与其他的大撮相对stupid的人沟通。鉴于你这次总算没说高等教育无用论，我就不跟你争了。
这篇文章的观点我太同意了，（比我上面用来跟Jun扯的总结要内涵广阔得多，同学们需要自己看内容。）尤其是最后那段：
The ability to engage in introspection, I put it to my students that day, is the essential precondition for living an intellectual life, and the essential precondition for introspection is solitude. They took this in for a second, and then one of them said, with a dawning sense of self-awareness, “So are you saying that we’re all just, like, really excellent sheep?” Well, I don’t know. But I do know that the life of the mind is lived one mind at a time: one solitary, skeptical, resistant mind at a time. The best place to cultivate it is not within an educational system whose real purpose is to reproduce the class system.
并且我很同意太习惯社交网络的一代人不习惯孤独。当然另一个角度讲，工业化的社会需要的是大量的sheep，这样的人好找工作。所以也不能算失败，所以文章很小心的用的词汇是“缺陷”，而不是失败。
又跟我上面引的那段无关的一个意思。我最近有些粗浅的想法，我有幸有个有很多时间玩+学生活动的中学生活，顺应当年八乘八之前的教改之风，现在好像这种学校哪里都很罕见了。当年一个明星英语老师跟我们说将来生活中是B类生领导A类生，把我们班第一名给气坏了。其实也不是所有B类生都能怎样，但是在用分数说话的教育系统里A类生是能够推自己用80的精力来成就最后那20高分的学生，这样他们就没有时间玩或者做空想或者做任何没有产出意义的事情，同时也是老师的宠儿，这个是这篇文章里上藤校的学生的特质。湾区的教育有个问题是人群的单一性，技术移民占多数，技术移民也就是其他国家的A，A-类学生。这样整个湾区的学校从小到大，都有点一心藤校的那种思维方式，教育方法，基本就是上文说的那样的思维。

其实我觉得这篇文章最大的一个疏漏在于他没有考虑家庭影响。教育系统也不过是教育系统，是对人一方面的影响；家庭环境，我觉得，对于人的非念书方面的smarts影响更大。
