读了以后一方面觉得他概括的非常好,我个人的体验就是努力以后的成就感特别令人满足,effortless 的愉悦常常重复后让人腻味,另一方面又怀疑愉悦这事儿非常私人,我正好也是劳碌命,也许别人根本不这么想--不是也许,而是肯定很多人都不这么想。愉悦本无高级和低级之分,最多只有余韵流连长短的区别。就是当时的愉悦过去之后,第二次,第三次,乃至第一百一千次回味起来,是否仍然带来愉悦的体验。Third, most of us developed higher pleasures. Smoking was fun, for a bit, but it was kind of repetitive. Most of us figured out early on that smoking weed doesn’t really make you funnier or more creative (academic studies more or less confirm this). We graduated to more satisfying pleasures. The deeper sources of happiness usually involve a state of going somewhere, becoming better at something, learning more about something, overcoming difficulty and experiencing a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
另外会不会太注重长期努力都是缺乏享受短期愉悦能力的人,不容易快乐?
david brooks 承认大麻社会危害性不大,但是争辩说合法化会鼓励年轻人抽大麻,而法律应该把社会往好的方向shape. 哈哈,不就是nanny state 么?他这个保守派真是矛盾。
