Yeah, indeed, a bit of slapping here and there during sex is not big deal now, but in 60s, OMG, you have to pay a whore to do it.

I feel a little sad for that newer younger copy of Betty -- what's that girl's name? I think she played a role in Trueblood season 2 as the priest's wife who had affair with Jason -- she wanted to capture Don so badly, playing all the tricks from "good girl"/"naughty girl" textbook, looking all cute, talking silly ....But Don was so bored. He could see through all her tricks, and he was not a bit attracted.

Are Henry and Betty married? not, yet, I don't think, hence Henry's mom was trying to talk her son out of marrying Betty too:"I see what you saw in her, but you don't have to marry her to get it."

AFAIK, Betty and Henry are married. Henry was in such a hurry to marry her last season that they flew to Reno to get the divorce. Now this is nearly a year later. I don't believe Betty could stand being single anyway.

It will be very interesting to see how nuts Don will go this season after he no longer has any tie to the glossy American Dream. Even in the first episode he seems to be on the verge of a breakdown. He is going off the deep end.

"Somehow not showing anything seems dirtier." What a line!

Joey is her part-time sidekick. (The "John!" "Marsha!" exchange is apparently an in-joke to an advertising/pop culture reference in 1964.) Mark (the "fiance") might be the guy she dated in the 3rd season. I can't remember whether it's the same guy (all these white bread young punks look the same) she was sleeping with last season.

Telegraph 上的一篇评论深得我心。Sherlock Holmes 是我的初恋，尊重和迷恋原著的改编者总是能得到我的 thumbs up。

（下面有剧透，不想知道的请勿读下去。）

医生让华生写 blog 日记的手法很恰当地解释了他为什么记录很多 Holmes 的案子。

好多好玩的细节：例如，John 的枪伤到底是哪里涅？哈哈哈，连 Moffat 都知道 Dr. Doyle 记性不好。Watson 是一个 crack shot 也是跟原著吻合的。在饭馆里 awkward 的对话：女盆友？男盆友？ Aneurysm 也是从原著来的。Mrs. Hudson 真素太可爱了。

关于那个“每次都猜对”的药瓶选择问题，我觉得是这样的。凶手说，我很聪明的，这不是瞎猜运气，而是一个 chess game，说明他在之前的四次凶案中都是故意跟对方玩心理战术，bluff 成功而已。当然这一套很难瞒得过 Sherlock Holmes。另外我认为他杀的几个人不是 random 的，其中有两个人是政府要员，说明受害者多半是 Moriarty 替凶手挑的。

还有 Mycroft 的调调也很搞笑，只是这位还不够胖，当然，他解释说自己正在减肥中... 的确有很多书迷觉得 Sherlock 跟 Mycroft 的关系不可能很融洽，两个极度聪明的家伙，sibling rivalry，那简直是一定的。不过，可是，Mycroft 审问 Watson 的那一大套，倒有点象操心的大哥盘问小弟的恋爱对象（“你跟他什么关系？” “这么快就搬进去跟他住了？”），生怕小弟遇人不淑 ...

结尾的时候，警方医生给他披上桔红色的毯子，他还问：“他们怎么老给我披毯子？I'm not in shock.” 这也是个 reference，他披着毯子的打扮正是旧版 Sherlock Holmes 的经典形象之一。

Mycroft的那段编得太可爱了，而且是编剧之一Mark Gatiss演的，真好玩。

另外我认为他杀的几个人不是 random 的，其中有两个人是政府要员，说明受害者多半是 Moriarty 替凶手挑的。

我也这么怀疑！中间夹些random 受害者，throw the police off.
我仍然怀疑凶手说玩心理战术是猫捉老鼠，不这么说受害人哪肯乖乖吞药。原著里凶手和受害者有深仇大恨，认为上帝站在他这边。这里又不是。

我昨天摆渡上一通狂找，当然未果，不过找到了一些别有用心的截图，笑得我要死。那位贴图的姑娘说，哈德逊太太你一定是同人女吧，是吧是吧，笑得我捶地。
单看他俩吃饭时候的截图，让我想起House里面Wilson向House求婚的段段，编剧也好这个道道?

Supposely, this is a gay-hang-out cafe. Sherlock brought Watson there, for a stakeout. Keeping his eyes fixed on the street outside, Sherlock answered Watson's question absentmindly, "Girlfriend? No, not really in my area."
Hmmmmmm.
Note Dr. watson's eye movement. What happened next is hilarious. The dialogue and the eye movements were just perfect. You all got to watch this.

这两天重翻＂四签名＂，有一些有趣的发现。这才是第二本福尔摩斯故事，Dr. Doyle 已经自摆乌龙，把华生同学的枪伤转到腿上去了。同时点明大侦探是个 junkie。也许写了就没打算再多写，所以以婚姻收尾。

结尾这段挺有趣的，华生同学宣布要结婚去了，福尔摩斯的反应让他很不满意。

"Well, and there is the end of our little drama," I remarked after we had sat some time smoking in silence. "I fear that it may be the last investigation in which I shall have the chance of studying your methods. Miss Morstan has done me the honour to accept me as a husband in prospective."

He gave a most dismal groan.

"I feared as much," said he. "I really cannot congratulate you."

I was a little hurt.

"Have you any reason to be dissatisfied with my choice?" I asked.

"Not at all. I think she is one of the most charming young ladies I ever met and might have been most useful in such work as we have been doing. She had a decided genius that way witness the way in which she preserved that Agra plan from ali the other papers of her father. But love is an emotional thing, and whatever is emotional is opposed to that true cold reason which I place above all things. I should never marry myself, lest I bias my judgment."

"I trust," said I, laughing, "that my judgment may survive the ordeal. But you look weary."

"Yes, the reaction is already upon me. I shall be as limp as a rag for a week."

读者可以自下结论。

回头看看，发现其实 Dr. Doyle 写出来的对话本来就很 snappy，含带着相当程度幽默感，不过没有 Steven Moffat 写的对话那么噼里啪啦的逗人和 cute 就是了。而且，他写血字的研究时只有26-27岁，写四签名的时候只有30岁而已，难怪里面的人物也给人年轻的感觉，本来就是这样的嘛。

华生的腿后来明明好的很，一开始为什么会瘸的？他自己在家里吃早餐的时候也是很吃力的用拐杖撑着坐到餐桌旁的。
我还担心他怎么跟福尔摩斯一起探案。等看到他追出租车健步如飞才放下心来。

Holmes 一开始就指出他的瘸腿是 psychosomatic 。结尾的时候还问了一下，你的确是在阿富汗受了枪伤的吧？Watson 说是的，在肩膀上，Holmes 说是左边吧？Watson 说被你猜对了。Holmes 答道我从来不猜（这句也是原著里的）。当然其实我也猜得到是左边，因为他一直用右手拄着拐杖嘛。这个一会儿腿伤一会儿肩伤的情节是拿原著里的乌龙开玩笑来着。（如果以后拿 John/James 也开个玩笑就好了。）Moffat & Gatiss 两个人绝对是把原著倒背如流的家伙，例如 Harry Watson 也跟原著吻合 --- 在四签名的开头，Holmes 通过 Watson 的怀表推断出他的哥哥酗酒而潦倒，根据是表上刻了缩写 H.W. 不过没提 H=Harry (or Harriett)。

第二集稍微逊色一点，也挺好看的。动作镜头有点多，还有似是而非的中国元素，不过原著里本来也如此，神秘恐怖色彩有时超过推理过程。福尔摩斯和华生之间太有戏了，华生的新女友和他很般配

我觉得花生真可怜！不过好在运气不错。该女是花生的真命天女，可以在花生缺席时给福而摩斯充当骷颅头。
福而摩斯跟人打完了架要看镜子整整领子的动作太GAY了。银行家旧相识对花生的＇朋友＇身份表情暧昧的模样也让我觉得大家都心照不宣的认为福而摩斯是弯男。

是呀，华生老被差到东差到西，吃不饱睡不足的。尽管偶尔抱怨几句，他也是个爱冒险的，不然不会心甘情愿地跟在那谁后面。福而摩斯的不通人情和促狭，华生的幽默都好可爱。我也觉得该女是真命天女，既机智又勇敢，没有被吓跑，以后结了婚不会对华生管头管脚。但是书里华生太太是叫Mary而不是Sarah。

这集把背景放到了City和博物馆，象上集的出租车一样，很伦敦风情。

除了几个长篇，福尔摩斯故事其实都不太复杂，每集90分钟的内容，难为编剧们了。这集果然有《恐怖谷》里的一些情节。

第二集没有第一集那样机关枪似的对话和密集的references，Steve Thompson 主要管写他自己的侦探故事而不是引用原著，跟 Moffat 相比比较弱的地方是 pacing，明显有缓慢和冷场的段落，缩为60分钟一集更恰当。

Chinese circus 的情节好搞笑，不知道是不是影射 Cirque du Soleil 的。

London A to Z ？这是啥书，真的人手一本？可惜现在没人用年鉴了 ...

难道每一集都要靠 Watson 来救大家么？(Not that I have any objections.)

不知道 Moriarty 教授会不会在最后一集里出现。Molly Hooper 刚刚交了个男友叫 Jim，是在楼下搞 IT的（见她的 blog）。然后我查了一下，Moriarty 的名字是 James ...

下班换换脑子休息一下。

不过这集我看的有点不太HIGH，当代人如果对密码学有基本知识，就应该知道数字＋密码本的翻译方式是基础方法之一，这里只是用公开的书做密码本。还有shift 字母顺序的凯撒加密算法，通过字母出现频率攻击的解密，都很基础。比如SH说告诉警方没有用，黑帮换本书就成了。这在当代用电脑暴力攻击，几千本几万本书用不了多久就都试过来了。

绑两根带子飞来飞去卷来卷去好象是罗马尼亚杂技的传统项目。Cirque du Soleil 里有，好几个别的杂技团我也见过，一般都是肌肉男或者长腿辣女表演，底下还放大水盆把水踢出来啥的。

Well, in the stories, Holmes does not play real music when he is thinking. He would make random noises on the violin, and others in the house have to put up with him. But after he solves the problem, he would play something nice to keep Watson happy.

第二集真的比第一集差好多。细细看过即可发现大把大把的漏洞和sloppy, lazy writing。Steve Thompson 跟 Moffat 真没法比，而且两个 show-runners 恐怕也没好好审过剧本把关。好多对白与镜头 go nowhere and serve no purpose ，不象第一集里紧凑到插不进刀刃，每一剧台词每一个镜头都未曾浪费，经得起推敲。

对于 Holmes 模仿后续版，我的态度一向是后来者 must be at least as clever as Dr. Doyle，如果不能，还是别费劲了。我真的有点担心，BBC 如果续这个剧集，但 Moffat/Gatiss 要忙着做 Dr. Who 没时间写剧本，这个东西就不好看了。

大家都很感兴趣的那件大衣，是vintage Belstaff，一共才有四件，两件在剧组手里。而他的衬衫，是D&G的，难怪那么漂亮。

其实成功的途径很简单，只要吃透原著即可。绝大部分的改编／模仿都不肯好好地看the Canon，老以为自己编造出来的福尔摩斯更聪明（包括写第二集的编剧Thompson），哼，差。

最近重看原著，发现最大的亮点和特点都在里面了：绝顶聪明而我行我素的主角，亲切可爱又爱好冒险的配角，出人意料但有合情合理的推理，神秘主义的气氛与情节。

重看四签名，加上血字的研究，发现还有好几个有趣的特点没有得到充分利用：福尔摩斯挺喜欢吃的，似乎还会做饭（在四签名里请客），很不英国；社会关系相当广泛，特别是在鱼龙混杂的中下层社会里；眼花缭乱的易容术和演技；贝克街小分队。

苏格兰场的侦探 Athelny Jones 都说过：福尔摩斯这青年不错，就是有时候理论一串一串的。

他还在请客吃饭的时候大谈天文地理，各类 obscure 知识，把人唬得一愣一愣。

我对于福尔摩斯（或许应该顺应潮流叫歇洛克）很英俊着一点儿，虽然很喜欢，倒也不觉得必要。他跟花生（或者约翰？）的魅力，在我心里跟容貌无关，就是够美够俊也加不了很多分。
