I recommend mutual funds for JMs who don’t have time to study the stock market, in Canada; we have something called “RRSP” similar to 401K in US. Usually the company contributes certain % to a selected registered account for all the employee and I buy extra to the maximum limit every year in the charted bank just for tax defer purpose.
I throw my RRSP portion in the bank to GIC, the only investment I knew at that time to earn 2.15% a year, The register plan has been invested in mutual fund by default and the return is 15~18% a year.
当我一天闲来无事, 数我可怜的几滴钱时, 才发现这个事实, I was trying to change my job just for a few thousand (less than 5) dollars and move to another location, 我只需好好伺候我的RRSP 也许目标就达到了. 我开始看书,开户, 选基金, 看大市.
I think watching the market and adjust the portfolio on the regular basis is still necessary, (every 3~6 month), at our age (I assume we are in the same range), put majority in the equity funds (for growth) and small portion into bonds for safety is not a very bad idea. ( I sold all my bonds and invested into some trust income funds last year because the bond market is not very good.
还是不敢投资股票, 我觉得那需要”相当的”研究工作.
