最近网上流行的一件办公室奇闻. 我倒是想这个MM怎么不考虑通过法律途径进行斗争: 周五晚上十点十一点打电话叫年轻女秘书单独回办公室,只是要拿一个钥匙,这事听上去怎么都有点fishy...

4月7日晚,EMC大中华区总裁陆纯初回办公室取东西,到门口才发现自己没带钥匙。此时他的私人秘书瑞贝卡已经下班。陆试图联系后者未果。数小时后,陆纯初还是难抑怒火,于是在凌晨1时13分通过内部电子邮件系统给瑞贝卡发了一封措辞严厉且语气生硬的“谴责信”。陆在发送这封邮件的时候,同时传给了公司几位高管。结果瑞贝卡以一封咄咄逼人的邮件进行回复,并让EMC中国公司的所有人都收到了这封邮件。这件事在网上吵得沸沸扬扬。形成几千人转发的局面。一些网友称瑞贝卡为“史上最强女秘书”。

首先,我做这件事是完全正确的,我锁门是从安全角度上考虑的,北京这里不是没有丢过东西,如果一旦丢了东西,我无法承担这个责任。
其次,你有钥匙,你自己忘了带,还要说别人不对。造成这件事的主要原因都是你自己,不要把自己的错误转移到别人的身上。
第三, 你无权干涉和控制我的私人时间,我一天就8小时工作时间,请你记住中午和晚上下班的时间都是我的私人时间。
第四,从 到EMC的第一天到现在为止,我工作尽职尽责,也加过很多次的班,我也没有任何怨言,但是如果你们要求我加班是为了工作以外的事情,我无法做到。
第五,虽然咱们是上下级的关系,也请你注重一下你说话的语气,这是做人最基本的礼貌问题。
第六,我要在这强调一下,我并没有猜想或者假定什么,因为我没有这个时间也没有这个必要。

。另外还有人说他的语法也没有问题,这我倒是不能同意的,至少倒目前为止,我觉得他的时态还是有点问题。

Why are people nitpicking this CEO(?)'s English when the key issue (pun intended), IMO, is his obvious inability to deal with minor office incidents and a clear lack of leadership quality? How stupid of him to flip out over a minor issue of being locked out of his own office! So what? Call the building management, call security, call whoever. Get over yourself. If he cannot solve a small problem like this, how the hell does he manage a company and (I assume at least) a budget of millions of dollars? And for such a minor issue, why the hell did he copy this e-mail reprimanding his own assistant to other executives? To show off how much trouble he has handling his own subordinates?
The secretary is obviously a spoiled brat who cannot handle criticism in a professional and constructive manner. I'm less critical of her simply because she is not paid and trained to be a CEO.
What is EMC? A well known big company? Geez, look at the quality of their executives...
I would have considered the request "fishy" (or suspicious) if the CEO did not cc other executives his scolding e-mail. If he sent it to her alone then it might have some inappropriate implications...
Also I don't see why there is so much bruhaha over this incident. The exec was lame and inappropriate, but compared with some horror stories I've heard about American bosses, this is nothing. You want to know how abusive some bosses are? Watch movie "Swimming with Sharks" or read "Devil Wears Prada" or simply skim through the job/work columns and online chats with columnists on Washingtonpost.com. There are bosses who order their assistants to buy their kids' birthday cakes, who scream and yell at their subordinates, who call their workers names, who even use physical violence.
Even an American trial lawyer would not be able to make a case out of this incident. This CEO may be stupid, obnoxious and demanding, but what he did was hardly discriminatory, absive, or creating hostile work environment.

Fired? Kicked out? Both? Does that mean Chinese companies are more worried about minor quibbles like this? Hmm... Look at the ex-president of American University Ben Ladner. You can squander millions of dollars of a private university and the board of trustees will still hand you a fat severence package to see you off... After all, life seems easier for a fat cat exec in a U.S. organization.
个人的感觉是,所有下属在转发邮件的过程中大大发泄了对自己老板的怒气,还顺便捎搭上了中外对抗等等问题。。。。转发给全国员工当然不professional,但那个把邮件桶到公众网上的也professional不到哪里去吧?。。。。至于英文语法嘛,确实原文有问题(可能盛怒之下顾不上断句了吧),二来这总归是旁观者如我比较容易插得上话的地方,而且吵架的时候,你英文不好还好意思讲话肯定没道理也配批评人你也有罪凭什么扔石头你敢说你就没犯过错等等逻辑,是非常有效果和杀伤力的。:super:
