Garden State

It's better to feel pain than be numb (just so that we can pursue the elusive "happiness"),

A friend of mine said to me: YOU are the only person I know who bothers to listen to the commentary track on a DVD. That's why I think you're nuts.

Garden state is written and directed by Zach Braff; Elizabethtown is writtern and directed by Cameron Crowe. Any overlap? :confused007:

http://www.fabvalley.org/bbs/viewtopic. ... zabethtown
Writer-director Cameron Crowe's most recent stumble, "Vanilla Sky," continues without interruption into "Elizabethtown." It's hard to believe the creative mind that gave us "Almost Famous," "Jerry Maguire," "Say Anything" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" looked up with satisfaction after typing 117 pages of this.

Speaking of killer exercycles, "Elizabethtown" comes across as little more than repedaled "Garden State." In both films, a prodigal son of sorts returns to the old home state because of the death of a parent, gets caught up in a world of offbeat characters and is ultimately saved by the love of an eccentric young woman.

很喜欢Zero 7的 In The Waiting Line 和 Remy Zero 的 Fair

Funny. I have exactly ZERO interest in watching Orlando Bloom's movies. Which means I'd have to rate my interest in watching Brad Pitt movies into the negative range. OTOH, I'll follow Peter Sarsgaard anywhere --- Nah. Not really. I can't immediately think of an actor for whom I'd watch trashy movies for. Old, I tell ya.

but how do you define Brad Pitt movies? I think at least Seven is classic, fight club and snatch are not bad  I like Legend of the fall and Interview with Vampire too :love007: Mr. and Mrs. smith, the mexican, ocean't 11 and 12 are good killing time movies 8)

hehe, i try not to think about brad pitt.

i dunno, i was a little underwhelmed by garden state. it's "cute," but they also knew too well that it's cute. i dunno if that makes sense... even the conflicts are soothing and nice. sarsgaad was very good, i agree. zack dude was okay, but i have to say that my dearest np has lost her thing. i dunno how it happened and why it happened, but she has grown up to be a mediocre actress.

which is totally fine of course...

Yeah, that's what I meant by being underwhelmed by Portman.

I know Garden State is very small and unambitious. And nice and cute. Really nothing spectacular. Fine as a debut of a young man.

I was particularly moved because, well, some stuff in the movie happens to echo some going-ons in my own life recently. Good timing, I guess.

And I can watch Peter Sarsgaard play "Waiting for Godot". :-)

I agree that Seven is some sort of a classic, but it is also on my all-time most-hated movie list. I have a deep hatred for that movie. Also part of the reason for me to swear off Pitt.

If you want an ambitious first movie, check out "Primer" or "Pi." Be warned, however, that my taste is somewhat weird.

I watched the interview of Natalie Portman with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. She said the movie V for Vendetta was filmed mostly in Berlin, and she was quite nervous before she got to Berlin. Jon went ‘We are Jews. We get nervous when we go to Germany’. Quite funny :bowling:

Why is that? Not because he broke Meg Ryan's marriage, is it?

I saw that movie in theater when it came out. Pretty good. It was Coen brothers' work, right? Homage to film noir...
