这个星期日起的比较得早，上午十点钟就爬起来了。遂开了电视，乃赶上了CBS的民主党候选人辩论，居然看得津津有味。这一个小时的节目，给我留下最深印象的乃是这些政治家们回避正面回答问题的能力。人家问他们自己觉不觉得自己是liberal, 他们也不说是-----据说很多美国人民群众是决不会选liberal的；也不说不是----还有一批人民群众回不高兴他们谢绝这个称号的，好像。他们就是狂说了一顿自己给什么议案投了什么票，完了之后还是不说是不是，那个意思好像就是你们自己看着办吧。最有趣的乃是一个女记者问：civil union跟gay marrige到底有什么不同。被答了一堆啥是civil union.
最后感想，觉得问这些人是男是女，估计他们的最直接的回答恐怕是：84女的。

This is how to deal with questions:
1）If you have nothing to say, say nothing.
2）Pay no attention to the question, just make your own statement.
3）If they ask the question again, you say: that’s not the question, I think the real question is … Then you make another statement of your own.

我终于看了<<Gangs of New York>>后，对里面两句话印象深刻。其中一句是那个肮脏政治家说的：The appearance of law must be upheld.引人发笑，总算说了真话。
噢，昨天收到个大信封，上面提醒：Do not bend, presidential photo enclosed. 还真是布什两口子8‘X10’的照片，竞选亲善选民，不由分说认做一伙：Thank you for your early committment and dedication...
好玩的是还附了个回执，让人寄回去表示收到照片"...in good condition, suitable for framing and displaying."

完全同意，属于那种很好但我不想看第二遍的电影。

我都不知道原来美国打内战的时候，还有北军征兵导致的这么血腥的一出事情。
我印象最深的一句话：你总可以雇到一批穷人，杀掉另外一批穷人。毛骨悚然。

There was a lot of controversy with the way history was presented in GONY. The racial riot that actually happened was one of the worst in U.S. history, where blacks living in NY were massively killed by white immigrants who blamed them for the war and the draft. Some people felt the movie hid the worst aspects of the riot and presented it as white-on-white violence.
