常看的一个博客自在空间,转载了北京市餐饮业菜单英文译法,蛮好玩的。Karen等同学可以看看北京的餐厅酒吧里都卖些什么。 :-D

说起来外国人到北京的第一站是机场,那里的英文翻译曾经惨不忍睹,笑料百出。一年多没去北京了,不知情况是否有所改善。

饮料那一部分很有意思,我今天刚购入的Banrock Station Sparkling Shiraz 也能找到。不过洋酒的分类还是乱,把sherry, port, table wine给归到一起。

前面像唐人街菜单,后面越来越有趣,特别是洋酒部分。我不喝酒,不过看到那部分还是好奇心大涨。

真好玩! 我要是去北京的话,肯定得印了这个对照单子。 中文菜名当然有意义能勾起个图案,但英文名字更实在,至少能知道菜里有啥。 比如说下面几个菜若不是有英文,我根本不知道是啥,弄不好点了乌龟上桌子。 :-D

菜单还挺好的,就是几个菜里面的木耳被翻译成fungus,太不勾引食欲啦。
酒单问题太多了.
49 五粮液 39度 Wu Liang Ye(39°) -->78 proof

65 张裕香槟 Zhang Yu Sparkling Cider --> sparkling wine

71 华夏长城赤霞珠 Great Wall Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine --> red wine is redundant

51 苏格兰纯麦威士忌 Scotch Malt Whisky --> should be single malt

48 麦高伦麦威十二年威士忌 Macallan Highland 12 years, Scotland --> single malt should be added

餐酒(Table Wine) --> 单子都是有名有姓的酒,哪儿能翻成table wine? 酒单太乱了, 红的白的不分开也没按照地区品种分,年份都不标! :shock:

甲鱼的壳边儿上有一圈儿是软的, 可以吃。乌龟壳就不能吃了。 :-D

我唯一能抓的bug在甜点类里面,还是因为错的太厉害才被我这样的半瓶醋抓到的。 :f21:

我觉得第一行就有错误:Jelly Fish Head,海蜇头并不是海蜇的头啊。

据网上资料说:伞部为海蜇皮, 触须为海蜇头。我原来只是直觉海蜇好象没有头 :lol:

蘑菇的翻译的确应该加强,香菇木耳金针菇没什么难的吧。

从菜单看,北京本地菜、粤菜和川菜比较占世面。西餐部分也很好玩。

Some exotic names can enhance the exotic experience of exotic food. Why tell the diner exactly is in every dish and take out the surprise element?

木耳叫woods ear可能更exotic些 :-D 香菇作fragrant讲太好了,可惜少数认识它的西方人叫它shitake。

这么多翻译和Copy/Paste的精力花费在sea cucumber和sharks fin上,点击率不知有多少 :?

这边有的中餐馆根本不提供英文翻译. 上次和同事去上海一只鼎吃点心, 点心单子纯中文, 不会中文根本没法点菜. 感情人家生意好得不行, 天天有排队等座的, 根本不在乎做老外生意.

我刚看了这菜单就提前吃午饭去了。
14 干煸小猪腰 Fried Pig's Kidney with Onion
拟单子的人也够粗心的。这洋葱真是从天而降。

其实这上面都是“粗菜”。现在好像有专门骗外国人的那种“私家菜”,名字起的云山雾罩。我印象深刻的是一道炸水饺,饺子排成歪歪扭扭的一小排,起的名字叫“梦入江南烟水路”。这将来要是都统一成Fried dumpling就太对不起群众的创造力了。

应该是Opera cake

哦, 没吃过. 看着很诱人.
这菜单, 实在太大路太象美国中餐馆的菜单了, 尤其是那种号称四川上海北京广东什么都做的. 一看见这种菜单我就没胃口.
当然我是偏见, 也许人家每种厨子都各几个.

就是,真正的exotic 中国菜单就是要洋人,不,连中国人吃客都搞不清里面是啥子,例如夫妻肺片里没有肺,还有大肠鸡脑袋什么的。。。

我去过一家日本餐馆全是音译成英文的日文, 没有真正英文或者日文. 幸好还认识SUSHI, SASHIMI, TEMPURA, 也吃饱了,但始终没找到面和饭, 甚至味曾汤都没找到. 那么长的菜单, 没看见RICE, NOODLE, SOUP这些字. 这才算AUTHENTIC, EXOTIC吧, 很多吃客是白人, 让我很郁闷.

這幾個翻得實在很怪,奶黄包變成bread pudding了,菜盒子是炒蛋糕?!

我知道Udon是乌冬面,这还是看了电影晓得的。

说起吃,我就不知道蘑菇们,以及蔬菜们的说法,盖因词汇量实在太少。这个,在国内其实没啥,但是要是陪国外同事吃饭,再碰到好奇一点或者爱吃一点的,那真是一额汗呐。

有回吃饭,点了两种豆腐,那同事对豆腐的不同形态非常惊诧,我们解释老嫩豆腐的不同制作方法,累个半死。在座的中国人对制作方法还有分歧,弄得人家迷惑的不行。

会不会这种“高尚”的场所不供应饭面之类的平民食品,好象正式意大利餐厅里没有皮萨?
