今天在CNN上看到米雪奥巴马，哗，真是。。样子好。
米雪奥巴马说话很有纹路，比希拉里当年强多了。记得希拉里摆事业女性的款儿摆的太足，开口就是“我可不是在家烤小松饼的女人”得罪了全体家庭妇女的事嘛？米雪奥巴马也是女强人，还是少数族裔，非但不带一点“我拼搏到今天不容易谁也别拦着我”的口气，话说的比唱的还好听，姿态又真诚又舒服。
记者问她：“你是否赞同丈夫竞选？”
她说：“不，高强度的竞选活动对任何家庭都代价沉重。我觉的刚经过那么困难的一场参议员竞选该松口气了，他又要选总统，我简直受不了。。。但是我想，如果我不是他妻子，而是任何一个美国人，我会很希望他竞选。。。他能使越来越分裂的美国民众联合起来。。。最后我战胜了自己的自私。我喜欢竞选活动，到各地跟民众直接接触，听取他们的心声”（真是美国版本的“领导我给你提个意见，你工作太辛苦得注意身体。”）
记者问：“作为位高权重的成功女性，你是否可惜放弃自己的事业来迁就丈夫的选择？”
她说：“不，我一向知道自己要作什么，并不犹豫去做。在某天我可以，也可能继续我的事业。现在我在全力做现在的事情”（有事业心，有取舍，坚定，目标明确，have -it-all, 事业女性们听了肯定认同，）
记者问：“可是在某种程度上你不觉的你的事业定义你么？”
她马上驳斥：”不，我在生活里做的事情定义我，事业是其中之一。我是一个母亲，从这个角色中我汲取了很多力量。我不会为竞选活动扭曲我孩子的生活，竞选班子了解并尊重这一点，我从不离开家超过两天，不会错过她们的芭蕾表演。“（兼顾丈夫和孩子的需要不等于没有自我，have-it-all, 郊区足球妈妈们听了肯定也很认同。）

记者拼命挑逗她，她一次希拉里的名字都没提，一口一个“他的竞争对手说”，就事论事，一句针对性的批评都没说。（不跟比尔一般见识）
当然她运气好，晚生二十年，路上遇到的困难少，姿态当然可以比希拉里摆的大方。这不能怪希拉里。
做出个时代女性的样子来
Hillary Clinton 当上第一夫人的时候是快二十年前了，那时候的社会风气也跟现在很不同。Bill Clinton 其实很受家庭妇女的欢迎，他当选还是靠了soccer moms 的支持，Hillary 说出我不是家庭妇女的话自然有点忘恩负义的味道。而且Hillary 恐怕怎么算都是比 Obama 夫妻俩都强硬的人，如果她是Michelle 这岁数这时代长大的，哪儿还会走第一夫人的道路，早自己闯政路了。唉，Barack Obama 这个后盾可比Hillary 的强多了。Michelle Obama 在公众场合下的有礼有节的说话策略固然是幕后练出来的本子，为什么Bill 到现在还要四处抢镜头呢？还要满嘴放炮乱说话呢？关键时刻老帮倒忙，出于他的身份和脾气，加上Hillary 现在的智囊团大多是过去 Bill 的人，我猜大家也管不了他。哼哼，他捅了篓子还得她来补救。本来很多人就害怕 Hillary 当上总统，实际上是 Bill 在背后插手 --- 当然我不认为他有那个本事 --- 但是他现在那么爱出风头，简直是替人印证了这个疑心。Hillary 真倒霉，她要是能有个好点儿的老公肯定早上去了。。。如果她家里的那位能象Nancy Pelosi 或者HP的那个前总裁多好！

竞选本来就跟歌手做演唱会旅行一样，一套车毂辘话在各地轮流说，高强度体力活。练练能说顺溜不希奇，只怕说多了人疲掉了缺乏真诚的姿态，选民不买帐。还有些倒霉孩子怎么练都缺表情，比如gore. hillary 。
比共和党的对抽辩论好看多了。I don't mind if McCain wins, but the likelihood is small. Republicans hate hate hate him. If he can pass the primary, then his chance might improve. But then Romney is also much hated. It's hard to be a Republican voter this time because none of the candidates fully represents what they want. Huckabee is socially conservative but fiscally liberal. The average people may like him but the corporate Republican establishment is afraid of his populist policies. Playing the poor-card gets you nowhere -- just look at Edwards.

共和党的基础选民大量地不信任他，因为他跟民主党有合作的历史。过去十几年里国会都是右派的极端分子Tom DeLay 他们当道，共和党的议员绝大多数都不敢表露一点中间路线或者同对方合作的意向，生怕被自己人打压，McCain 是少数不吃那套的人，所以被普遍憎恨认为对本党不忠实。他背上插的刀子，来自共和党的要多过民主党插的。
最初小灌木推动庞大的corporate tax cut 的时候，McCain 投了反对票。现在却表示要make the tax cut permanent，很明显是为了讨好共和党的基础选民。我这个liberal 就是因为他当初反对给corporation 减税才喜欢他的。光那一条就在短短几年内掏空了多少国库，效果不比打伊拉克战争小呢。他也一直反对堕胎，但我不认为他会因为这一件事而跟中间派和左派翻脸。

Poor Hillary Clinton! She really reminds me of Lyndon Johnson. She is not good-looking, charismatic, or naturally likable, but she is indeed 手段老辣，城府很深, an effective and pragmatic politician with all the right agendas. Democrats don't like her because she voted in favor of Iraq war. Republicans hate her because of the grudge against her husband. People are not rational and are often driven by likability and appearance. 
Bush has announced his 09 federal budget, in which he cuts health care (medicare, medicaid, FDA, NIH, etc.), education, social service, and every domestic spending. Yet the budget still creates one of the largest deficits ever. So where does all that money go? Economic stimulus package, increased MILITARY spending, and PERMANENT TAX CUT FOR THE RICH.
Bush has announced his 09 federal budget, in which he cuts health care (medicare, medicaid, FDA, NIH, etc.), education, social service, and every domestic spending. Yet the budget still creates one of the largest deficits ever. So where does all that money go? Economic stimulus package, increased MILITARY spending, and PERMANENT TAX CUT FOR THE RICH.

Lots of the voters are complete i___ts. In head-to-head polls, Obama beats McCain (or any other Republican candidate) in hypothetical general election, but H. Clinton is less electable. Republicans prefer Hillary to win the Democratic nomination because Obama would be more difficult for McCain to beat. Democrats want Romney to be nominated because he can't beat his way out of a paperbag.
A Clinton-vs-McCain election will be very close, at least based on the polls now.
The "ridiculous federal deficit" will most likely screw up Americans' children and grandchildren, but hey I plan to have no kids so I'm safe!

Don't be so happy so early. YOu might live longer than you think. One of my grandma lived till 93, and another one is 91 and still going strong (knock on wood). When you are in your 90s, you are too old to move to anywhere else and will have to live with a broken government, broken SS, broken medicare system..... for another 20 years!

Limbaugh on McCain: It's Better to Be Right All the Time

It may be the best sideshow in presidential politics: the nation's top radio talker trying to take down the Republican front-runner in today's Super Tuesday showdown.
Rush Limbaugh has been relentless in his criticism of John McCain, prompting suggestions that he may have to soften his stance if the Arizona senator wins the nomination and faces off against Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. But if that happens, Limbaugh said in an interview over the weekend, he would rather see the Democrats win the White House.
"If I believe the country will suffer with either Hillary, Obama or McCain, I would just as soon the Democrats take the hit . . . rather than a Republican causing the debacle," he said. "And I would prefer not to have conservative Republicans in the Congress paralyzed by having to support, out of party loyalty, a Republican president who is not conservative."
When it comes to the McCain mutiny, Limbaugh has plenty of company on the right side of the dial. Laura Ingraham endorsed Mitt Romney last week, saying, "There is no way in hell I could pull the lever for John McCain." Sean Hannity, who also endorsed the former Massachusetts governor, regularly rips McCain. Hugh Hewitt is urging the audience for his syndicated radio show to fight for Romney against what he calls a media-generated "McCain resurrection." But with a program heard on 600 stations, including Washington's WMAL, Limbaugh is the loudest and brashest voice inveighing against the man he derides as "Saint John of Arizona."
Limbaugh dismissed the notion that a McCain victory would be a "personal setback" for him. "My success is not defined by who wins elections," he said. "Elected officials come and go. I am here for as long as I wish to stay. . . .
"Yesterday it was Limbaugh vs. [Donovan] McNabb, Limbaugh vs. Michael J. Fox. Before that it was Limbaugh vs. Bill Clinton. Tomorrow it will be Limbaugh vs. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. And I note the media never applies this template to anyone else in media. Not to anyone in cable news, not to any of the endorsements of the major newspapers. Why are the New York Times and Washington Post not asked about the setback they both suffered when George Bush beat both their endorsed candidates in 2000 and 2004?"
Mark McKinnon, a top McCain adviser, called the criticism from Limbaugh and the other hosts "frustrating," saying: "Our question is, 'Isn't it better to get behind a Republican you may disagree with from time to time than work for an outcome that puts a Democrat in the White House with whom you will disagree all of the time?' . . .
"We don't expect Rush to fall in line. We know he's an independent guy, just like McCain. And we know he and McCain will continue to have differences, and we respect those differences."
But McKinnon said he hopes "a respectful relationship can be established" if McCain wins the nomination.
McCain has a history of strained relations with the party's right wing, especially on such issues as immigration, tax cuts and campaign finance reform. Yesterday Limbaugh said the candidate had "stabbed his own party in the back I can't tell you how many times."
