Paris hotel recs?

Keeping fingers crossed that I'm finally going to Paris in a week! Not the best season, I know, but I don't mind. Anyone has hotel recs (affordable and good enough location)? :) Thanks a lot... I'll be there for roughly four days.

For those that applied for a visa in New York, they usually give these to you on the same day, right?

Have fun! NYTimes had an article last year on hotels in Paris.

I thought long and hard, but I myself really have no cute-convenient-and-affordable hotels to recommend. If you find one, let me know.

My one recommendation is that you stay is Marais. It's the trendiest neighborhood with tons and tons interesting shops. I know you like shopping.

fantastic! that's a huge help - thanks very much. i toyed with the idea of going to edinburgh since i was thwarted last year by the festivals, but my colleagues worked hard to disabuse me of this thought.

unbelievable - do you guys know that now all UK visas require fingerprints taken before you can even apply? the wait is a month long, and you can't even get to the appointment scheduling page and see how long it is until you pay the $130! and their hotline costs $12 per call. this is effing criminal.

现在领事馆都流行让人打premium rate电话预约签证面试，在伦敦签，丹麦大使馆的电话每分钟1镑（2美元），美国的每分钟1.2镑，没有七八分钟这种电话是搞不定的。

昨天一天什么都没干，就在无穷尽地扯皮。中介电话收费确实是普遍现象了，问题是在紧急情况或者网络出问题的时候领馆得有个backup吧，这个服务机构说连他们都没有领馆的电话，然后他们又不能解决问题，这叫什么事儿啊。昨天网上预约还坏了，电话打了得有一百块的啥也没搞定，说今天就能修好，果然又推到礼拜一。我这儿机票什么都订了十几个客户都约好了，我晕。

哈，今天老板动用了他的关系，在两分钟之内就搞定了，领事让我直接去。以后要大力在旅游胜地发展关系！

yes, just need to sober up before getting to london.

i wish they had put london in the first half of the trip and let me go crazy in paris later, though. by the time i'm done with business in london the vacation vibe would've completely worn off.

my boss is on good terms with the foreign service establishment of most countries, but particularly the UK and japan.

june would be much better!
