脑子比舌头动得快的时候,难免会说出一些奇怪的话来,比如把固定词语里字的顺序颠倒来讲。某朋友名M White,她太太有次在会议上自我介绍:I'm M's white wife。哄堂大笑。

昨晚翻看一本关于牛津的书,关于New College的轶事说道:某年的校长William Spooner喜欢故意把临近词语里的辅音或元音换个顺序,以此为乐。后来这种行为发展成一个专有名词叫Spoonerism。

Spooner最出名的段子有:

Cheers to our queer dean
The Lord is our shoving leopard
You have tasted two whole worms (批评某不用功的学生)

Wikipedia上这一条举了不少例子,我觉得最好笑的是:The duck and doochess of Windsor。只是更象是口误。
